“Digital Storytelling Contests (DISTCO)”

We are so excited to announce that Digital Storytelling Contest (DISTCO) 2015 has started! DISTCO 2015 is an online contest where students and teachers in K-12 are invited to submit their original digital stories between December 8, 2014 and March 27, 2015. Please check our website at for complete timeline and updated rules. The DISTCO project awards;
DISTCO Scholarship Awards (New!) – 18 students in Senior Level (Grades 9-12) category will be awarded scholarships totaling up to $84,000 by North American University in DISTCO 2015.

The application window for the 2015-2016 school year is now open for all HPS campuses and will close on March 15, 2015. You may submit your application online or in person at your campus of choice.

If there are more applications than available seats for the 2015-2016 school year, a lottery will be held to determine who will be admitted. The date for this lottery will be disclosed at a later time. For additional questions, please call your local campus of choice.

Thank you for your continued support of Harmony Public Schools! Re-enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year is now open. Please be sure to return your re- enrollment form(s) either to the front office by paper or through the student/parent portal no later than February 1, 2015. Space is limited for the upcoming academic year, so seats are only guaranteed to students whose re-enrollment forms are returned by February 1, 2015.
Note: The re-enrollment form is for existing students ONLY.

Parents/guardians of students wishing to apply for the first time are required to complete a new student application, which can also be found at the front office or on the school's web page.

The Texas Charter School Association is organizing a Town Hall Meeting with supporters of the major public charter schools in Austin. During this meeting you will have the chance to meet & exchange ideas with your Austin-area state lawmakers.

Harmony has a comprehensive approach to STEM education that is not limited to only STEM focused curriculum. In addition to curricular activities such as PBL projects, we also provide many extracurricular activities for our stakeholders to develop a college-bound STEM culture in our schools. Get your pictures in the yearbook! The Yearbook Staff invites students and parents to submit photos for the yearbook. If you've got great photos of school and community events or you and your friends just having fun, we'd like to see them. Our photographers can't be everywhere. Help us get as many photos as possible to create a terrific book everyone will want to have.

Austin Cluster Language Olympiad

This last Saturday HSE rocked the house at the Austin Cluster Language Olympiad! Our students won 1st and 2nd place in Spanish signing, first place Russian singing, 3rd place Turkish and Spanish poetry and 1st place and all Turkish, Spanish and Russian Folk dance! Congratulations to our amazing students and their teachers.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day at UT Austin

Students and their parents or educators are invited to UT for an afternoon of engineering fun. UT’s national award winning Girl Day, presented by the Women in Engineering Program (WEP), gives over 2,000 first through eighth grade students a chance to:

-have fun doing grade-specific, hands-on engineering activities,
-meet students, professors and engineers from industry, and
-see what it's like to be an engineer.

Date and Time : Saturday, February 28, 2015 2 - 5 p.m.
Age Limit : 1st through 8th graders

UTSA College Trip with Juniors

Our junior class visited the University of Texas at San Antonio on December 3rd. Students had the chance to hear an admissions presentation and take a guided tour around the school. After the tour students were able to walk around, have a snack in the cafeteria and interact with college students. Time is flying for the junior class and very soon they'll be applying for colleges!

New Mexico College Trip

Our CRLP junior girls and boys groups got the chance to visit amazing New Mexico from November 20th to 23rd.

On this trip the girls got the chance to see UT at El Paso and tour New Mexico State University. Also we got the chance to visit the great natural attractions of White Sands National Park, Carlsbad Caverns and Sandia Peak as well as visiting beautiful Santa Fe.

This is the second time Mr. Ali, Mrs. Sullivan and Ms. Pravel have this trip and it is becoming a tradition so Sophomores make sure you join CRLP next year!

ALEKS Incentives

Dear Parents and Students ;

Here is the ALEKS incentive program for 2014-2015 school year at HSE-Austin.

ALEKS incentive program flyer

Students will be using the ALEKS program during their +5 hours Math Lab classes. New and returning students will start the year by taking the initial (diagnostic) assessment on ALEKS.

Students’ weekly goals may differ based on their ability in math class. They are required to complete the certain number of objectives in every week. After students master 20-25 topics, ALEKS assigns a progress-assessment. Lab-teachers will be watching these assessments’ scores very closely. they will discuss about students` progress and set new goals right after each assessments.

Students will be rewarded as school wide based on the performance they show. Please feel free to check the flyer above.

ALEKS is an adaptive, online math program that uses artificial intelligence and open-response questioning to identify precisely what each student knows and doesn't know.
