Early Dismissal and Parent-Teacher Conference Day

Dear Parents,

HSE-Austin Course Selection Forms 2014-2015

Dear High school students and parents ;

Early in the Spring Semester students complete the registration/request process for the following year. After carefully reviewing available courses, students and parents choose an appropriate and realistic course plan.

Please fill out the forms below no later than March 23rd, 2015.All schedules will be approved and completed by May 1st. Students who are concerned about any course requests should fill out the Schedule Change Request Form prior to the May 10. Course requests will be final by the May 15th. Students who are concerned about scheduling should meet with a counselor prior to the April deadline. Schedules will only be adjusted to change courses that require tryouts / auditions and for completion of summer school courses.

It is not guaranteed that your child will receive all classes that are requested on this course selection sheet. The master schedule is planned on the basis of students’ requests and we will do our best to honor your child’s request if it is possible.

On Wednesday ,April 15th, 11th grade students will take a School day SAT.

Please make sure that your child is well rested, has eaten breakfast and is AT SCHOOL ON TIME at 8:00AM on this day. Students need to come to school prepared, with #2 pencils and erasers. Please remind your child that it is important to do their personal best on this assessment, as we will use the results to apply for colleges

The College Guidance Department of Harmony School of Excellence is pleased to announce SAT Prep Sessions for Juniors.Sessions are open to juniors and sophomores who focus on building a solid, preparation strategy to achieve the SAT score necessary to gain admission to top choice colleges and maximizing scholarship potential.

8th grade night: Welcome to High school

Next year represents a big change for our 8th graders as they will start their high school education. In order to plan for what’s coming up the college counselors invited them and their families to 8th grade night on Thursday,February 19 at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria. In the meeting we discussed the new graduation requirements, the AP and dual credit program and how to better prepare the students for a successful college life. Don`t forget that having a strong high school plan will open the door to a better future. If you would like to schedule the meeting , please feel free to contact with the front office.

Financial Aid night

On Monday, February 9, 2015, high schoolers and their families gathered in the school cafeteria for a presentation organized by our college counselors about the various options students have to pay for their post secondary education. A big thank you to ACC’s financial aid supervisor Juanita Chable for taking the time to come and inform us on such an important topic!

Class of 2016 Texas A&M College visit


HSE-Austin Class of 2016 visited Texas A&M University-College Station onWednesday,Feb 5th, 2014.Students were given campus tours along with an information sessions.They had chance to enjoy their lunches in Sbisa Dining Hall. They had opportunity to see Texas A&M College Station campus and learn more about the educational and social programs at colleges. Thanks a lot for all teachers and students to join.

Class of 2017 St. Edward's University College Visit

Our sophomore classes visited the St. Edward's University on Jan 29th. Students had the chance to hear an admissions presentation and take a guided tour around the school. After the tour students were able to walk around, have a snack in the cafeteria and interact with college students.

“Digital Storytelling Contests (DISTCO)”

We are so excited to announce that Digital Storytelling Contest (DISTCO) 2015 has started! DISTCO 2015 is an online contest where students and teachers in K-12 are invited to submit their original digital stories between December 8, 2014 and March 27, 2015. Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day at UT Austin

Students and their parents or educators are invited to UT for an afternoon of engineering fun. UT’s national award winning Girl Day, presented by the Women in Engineering Program (WEP), gives over 2,000 first through eighth grade students a chance to:

-have fun doing grade-specific, hands-on engineering activities,
-meet students, professors and engineers from industry, and
-see what it's like to be an engineer.

ALEKS Incentives

Dear Parents and Students ;

Here is the ALEKS incentive program for 2014-2015 school year at HSE-Austin.

ALEKS incentive program flyer

Students will be using the ALEKS program during their +5 hours Math Lab classes. New and returning students will start the year by taking the initial (diagnostic) assessment on ALEKS.

Students’ weekly goals may differ based on their ability in math class. They are required to complete the certain number of objectives in every week. After students master 20-25 topics, ALEKS assigns a progress-assessment. Lab-teachers will be watching these assessments’ scores very closely. they will discuss about students` progress and set new goals right after each assessments.

Students will be rewarded as school wide based on the performance they show. Please feel free to check the flyer above.
